Parks and Rec 12U Fastpitch Girls Softball - Grades 5 & 6SportsGirls must be age 11-12 as of 5/1/26 (current 5th and 6th graders).This league will focus on building the skills needed to play fastpitch softball. Players will pitch to batters in this league. The 12U girls will play on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Schedule is produced by Pequot Lakes Rec and will involve travel to nearby towns for games through June. July play will be in town, intramural play. We rely on parent coaches, to ensure a successful season for your players, please consider coaching. Register before May 1 to avoid a late fee of $10. Parks and Rec Fall Soccer Ages 4-10SportsFall soccer is designed for boys and girls to learn fundamentals, sportsmanship and have fun playing the team sport of soccer. Players meet one week night and Saturday mornings for games and practices at Southdale Soccer Fields in Baxter. Ages 4-5 and 6-7 parents can select Monday or Thursday practice nights. Ages 8-10 practice option is Thursday night only - in addition to Saturday. A parent/player meeting will be held Thursday, September 10th at Forestview Middle School Cafetorium. Parents of new players will meet at 5:15pm, parents of returning players may pick up their shirt and schedules from 6-7pm that same night. It is very important to attend this first meeting to receive your schedule and team assignment. We rely on parent coaches. To ensure a successful season for our players, please consider coaching. Parks and Rec Fall Soccer Gr 5-6Sports5th/6th Grade Co-Ed Soccer offers an opportunity for students to learn and play the game of soccer with fellow classmates. The season will run from September 9th - October 12. Students will be split into teams that will practice either M/W or T/Th each week and then each team will play 9 games and then a final 10th game based on where they are in the standings. Practices will help develop the student’s skills from basic to advanced while learning the team concepts of soccer. Games will mostly be on Saturday mornings but occasionally they could be on a Friday evening or the evening of a practice. Due to the number of students we ask that players only come the days they have practice but you can contact the director if another arrangement is needed for your student in terms of scheduling. When registering please note if your player could only make M/W or T/TH or if they could do either. Come experience or discover the fun of soccer. Register BY September 1st to avoid a late fee of $10. **All players are asked to be there for September 9th and 10th as that helps us evaluate players and assign teams and then starting September 14th they would only come the days their team practices.***Summer 2026 -
Parks and Rec Flag Football Gr 2-3SportsFlag football meets twice a week for a fun-filled game of non-tackling football for both boys and girls. Meets 5:45 - 7:00pm. After the first practice on Sept 14th we will have a short parent meeting. No equipment required; wear tennis shoes and dress for the weather. Register BEFORE Sept 1st, space is limited. At LEAST 8-10 parent volunteers are needed to make the program successful, please indicate your interest when registering. Parks and Rec Major League Baseball Ages 7-8SportsPlayers must be at least 7 years old before 1/1/26 to be eligible for this program and preferably have some previous baseball experience. This league uses a hard baseball and a pitching machine. These teams meet Tuesdays and Thursdays within the 5:30pm-8:30pm time frame (depending on schedule and number of teams). The parent meeting will be held June1st at 6:30pm at Forestview Middle School in Baxter. Shirts and schedules will be handed out at the meeting. Each practice/game will last approximately 1 hour. We rely on parent coaches. To ensure a successful season for your players, please consider coaching. Children will spend part of their day in Little Warriors Childcare and the other part in a School Readiness classroom. School Age CareFun & Friends is a child care program for students in kindergarten through 6th grade. It has served the students of Brainerd Public Schools for over 30 years with age-appropriate, fun, recreational activities. Care is provided before school, after school, on non-school days, and over the summer. Sites include Nisswa Elementary, Baxter Elementary, Riverside Elementary. Summer 2026 Summer registration is now full. If you'd like to add your child to the waitlist please fill out the application and you will receive a confirmation email once it's accepted. If you have any questions please email cassandra.hale@isd181.org Registration Windows Phases Who’s Included February 25 - March 3 Priority Registration All families who have students currently attending Fun & Friends summer programming.All families who had students attend the 25-26 school year. Families currently on the 25-26 school year waitlist prior to today’s date, 2/17/2026. (These families will receive notification.) March 4 – March 10 Public Registration Open to everyone to complete enrollment. All public enrollments will be placed in a lottery. The number of spaces will be based on staffing availability. Families will be notified of their status by March 17. *Families must sign up during the correct stage for their application to be considered. Signing up before your registration window will result in a denied application. How to Register: Registration is done online (HERE). Choose the Fun & Friends location you would like to register for and click “Enroll Now.” *The site options will not show up on this link until registration opens. Scheduling:Schedules are due every other Wednesday by 4:00 PM for the upcoming two weeks. Invoices will be sent on Thursdays and are due by the following Monday. Please keep in mind that we are staffing and preparing our activities based on the number of kids scheduled, so we do ask for drop-in days to be limited. Please contact your Site Supervisor beforehand to make sure there is room for your child to attend as a drop-in. Incoming Kindergartners: Per MN certified child care statutes, a child must be entering kindergarten within four months of their first day in school age care. Records will be reviewed with district enrollment personnel to confirm that a child will be attending kindergarten in the fall of 2026. If a child, even if they are 5 years old, will not be attending kindergarten in September 2026, they are ineligible to attend school age care.
