Future Problem Solving helps students learn how to address problems using a six step approach that teaches students how to think, not what to think. The Future Problem Solving program engenders lifelong learning in problem solving and presentation. This year, students will work in groups to identify future problems in the areas of the digital dark age, disappearing cultures, influencer marketing, and health security. After developing an underlying problem, they brainstorm solutions, rank them, and develop them into an action plan. The Action Plan is then presented as a creative, live 4-minute skit. There are optional competitions at regional and state levels where kids can compete with other students and share their innovative ideas in writing and skits. Location of class will alternate each week between Brainerd High School and Forestview Middle School. Students can attend whatever locations they can make.
